  FAQs

The Western Colorado Community Foundation works closely with individuals, families and organizations to create charitable legacies to benefit our residents and improve the quality of life here in western Colorado. Our organization primarily serves Mesa, Garfield, Eagle, Rio Blanco, Delta, Montrose and Ouray counties.

Donor Funds
We manage millions of dollars and more than 180 donor funds.

Our donors come from many backgrounds and have their own charitable interests but share a common commitment to the community they call home. Each fund is separately accounted for, and has its own name and purposes as determined by the donor who established the fund.

All legal, tax and administrative requirements are handled by our Community Foundation and comply with IRS regulations and national standards for our field.

Make a Difference
Establishing a legacy fund is quick and easy. Make a difference and help your community! Please call for more information about tax benefits and how to establish a charitable fund.

Mesa Mall Sweepstakes Winner Gives $10,000 to Promote Kids’ Philanthropy

When Alice McCary won $10,000 in the Mesa Mall Sweepstakes last September, she knew right away she would not use it for her own benefit. Alice, a 3rd grade teacher at Tope Elementary School, wanted to use her winnings to encourage children and young adults in our community to learn about community needs and organize projects to help others. She established a donor-advised fund at WCCF, the Kid Give Fund. Classrooms, church groups and scout troops are encouraged to design a project to help meet basic needs and then apply to the Kids Give Fund for a $500 donation to the nonprofit organization they want to help.
